Ekwo called on sons and daughters of his autonomous community to kindly emulate the founder of Adani Care Foundation, one of their daughters married outside the state, pointing out that for the past three years she started the programme in their community, a lot of people have been moved out of poverty level.
“It doesn’t mean she is the richest but for the love and interest she has for her people she is doing this, focusing on the needy, sick, old, orphans, etc both in medical outreach, giving out food stuff and training of some in various schools,” he said.
The Foundation’s primary target is to create public awareness of the abject poverty that ravages the rural communities of Nigeria and to help reduce the impact of poverty by helping to lift members of the community above the poverty line.
The focus of Adani Care Foundation in the rural communities of Nigeria are especially widows, orphans, youths, adults, the sick and the elderly with the theme: ‘We Rise By Lifting Others.’
The Founder, Josephine Nneka Jemie-Onwuchekwa in her speech, said that the Foundation was formed to serve the people, especially the less-privileged.
“We are here to serve you, our cherished villagers who have remarkable resilience in the face of hardship. You inspire us every day with your courage and determination.
The founder who was represented by the Operations Manager, Gladys Ezinne Eze said: “Our mission is to ensure that you have access to the essential services you need – medical care, food, clean water, and opportunities for a bright.”
The Foundation, she said, had provided over 430 screenings and critical medication to individuals, served 1,300 hot meals, ensuring that families have enough to eat and distributed several bags of 50kg rice to address their food challenges as well as awarded a nursing scholarship, supporting the education of future health providers.
The Chairman of the occasion and a community leader, Emmanuel Aneke thanked the Founder of Adani Care Foundation, ACF, Onwuchekwa for their benevolence and magnanimity at upholding the Foundation that took off since 2022.
Aneke therefore, urged other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate them instead of using their privileged positions to oppress others or indulge in character assassination.
“We are therefore, very grateful. The widows in our midst are grateful. The orphans are grateful. The elderly are grateful. The youths are grateful. The entire town is grateful. Adani Care Foundation has come to give us food to eat and wine to drink – to celebrate Easter with great joy and above all free medical care.
“Don’t use a privileged position to bring your brother down no matter the circumstances or squabble. Don’t pray for the downfall of your brother. Help them to grow. Help the less privileged,” he urged adding that, “Adani Care Foundation has taught us how to be our brother’s keeper. It is our prayers that the Foundation will keep on rising to the greatest height,” he prayed.
